BASICS OF SAFETY CULTURE
Analysis of major accidents in the nuclear industry and other operations has shown that the root cause of nearly all accidents is associated with poor management and organization, i.e. the lack or insufficiency of safety culture.Safety cannot be achieved by mere observance of instructions, even though this is very important too. Knowing what should be done and how is not enough, it takes understanding why it should be done this particular way. It is required for safety that the staff are fully aware of the significance of safety for the work they perform and be ready for potential problems.
Safety culture applies to both organizations in general and individuals, and depends on organizational structure and rapport.
